What Lies Beneath: Further Exploration of the Archaeological Area at Rattling Brook, Norris Arm

Project Description
Objective:
To identify the boundaries of the site and to determine the exact amount of activity of the various Aboriginal cultures at the site.

Background:
Previous archaeological digs by Callum, Schwartz and Barnable with Dr. Lisa Rankin as lead, revealed that this area was a major archaeological site. The team was unable to complete a study on their findings due to time constraints. In their reports, the archaeologists agree that further work is required to determine the extent of the site. Over 6000 artifacts were uncovered during their digs in a relatively small area. Evidence shows that all Aboriginal cultures dating back to the Maritime Archaic inhabited the site during the warm season and returned on an annual basis.

Roles for Memorial University:
To further explore the archaeology of Rattling Brook, and to study and analyze the findings.
