Revival of Traditional Craft and Art Activities on the Irish Loop
Project Description
Objective:
To educate crafters and artists in traditional methods to benefit those in the community as well as provide information for tourists.
Background:
The Irish Loop Development Board would like to help crafters and artists learn and preserve traditional methods of doing their work and/or performing. By reviving older styles the techniques may be preserved for future generations. Work with the developing Southern Avalon Artisans Cooperative has already been done and more work with crafting, and within the arts (e.g. step dancing) would be beneficial.
Roles for Memorial University:
Help research and study the traditional forms and techniques from the region and develop a program to educate and pass on the methods to crafters and artists.
