Production of an Archival CD of Music and Storytelling From the Irish Loop Region, Based on Archival Recordings

Project Description
Objective:

To research and compile recordings of traditional material from the Irish Loop Region (Southern Shore of the Avalon Peninsula, NL)

Background:

Is there expertise at Memorial University to research and develop an archival CD of traditional material, such as music and storytelling, from the Irish Loop region (Economic Zone 20)? This product would be an excellent resource for those in the community and could be marketed to those in other regions of the province, as well as tourists. The CD would build on the long and rich cultural history of this region, and help bring attention to the people and their contributions to the community and province.

Roles for Memorial University:

Assist in the research and development of an archival CD with use of recordings which already exist in various collections (incl. MUN Folklore and Language Archive).
