Theatre Development Workshops for Labrador West
Project Description
Objective:
Can Sir Wilfred Grenfell College's Theatre Program Assist Theatre Training in the Labrador City Region?
Background:
Labrador West's theatre history and current drama groups, such as the Carol Players, have played a large role in the culture of the region. There are no formal training outlets in the area, though, and interested individuals and groups would benefit from theatre training, exercises and advice. Sir Wilfred Grenfell College in Corner Brook has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre and employs theatre instructors who teach various topics. The Hyron Regional Economic Development Corporation suggested the Theatre Department at the College lend their expertise to the region and conduct theatre training workshops.
Roles for Memorial University:
Connect theatre instructors with community members interested in theatre development in Labrador West.
Project Status:
Michael Waller, theatre instructor with Sir Wilfred Grenfell College, will deliver a workshop for children and another for adults in Labrador City April 3 & 4, 2009. These workshops will take place during a school drama festival week in which students from across Labrador will get to avail of Mr. Waller’s expertise.
