Summary
The need for e-marketing education was identified in several regions during Harris Centre Regional Workshops throughout the province. The Harris Centre partnered with the Gardiner Centre, Gardiner Centre, the outreach unit of the Faculty of Business Administration , to deliver four one-day workshops on e-marketing topics. Two speakers were chosen to deliver the workshops: Susan Sweeney, a well-known e-marketing speaker, author and consultant; and Lyle Wetsch who is an assistant marketing professor at Memorial with expertise in internet marketing and the challenges facing small businesses.

The sessions were divided into several sections and topics. During the morning, the plenary-style sessions were: "Past, Present and Future Trends of Online Marketing" (Sweeney) and Communicating WITH not TO your Customers in a Web 2.0 World (Wetsch).

The afternoon sessions were more interactive and were titled " Secrets of Search Engine Success" (Sweeney) and "Google Ad Words – The Ultimate Low-Cost/High-Return E-Marketing Tool" (Wetsch). Participants were able to ask questions specific to their situations/businesses and receive on-the-spot, practical answers from the experts.

Workshops were held:
The Fairmont Hotel, St. John's, November 27, 2008
The Wilds, Salmonier, November 28, 2008
Hotel Gander, Gander, March 19, 2009
The Pepsi Centre, Corner Brook, March 20, 2009

The Harris Centre and Gardiner Centre worked to target small to medium sized businesses, and non-profit groups, in the immediate area of each workshop. Efforts were also made to target businesses and groups within specific zones and the surrounding areas.
