Summary
During the Regional Workshop in Labrador City (Labrador West) it was identified that the community needed theatre training. The Regional Economic Development Board for the area suggested making use of the theatre program and expertise at Sir Wilfred Grenfell College in Corner Brook. The Harris Centre partnered with Hyron and arranged for theatre professor Michael Waller to travel to Labrador City for two workshops on improvisation in early April 2009. The workshops took place during the local school drama festival which allowed many interested youth to take part in one workshop, while adults from the community participated in the second workshop.
The workshops were held April 3 and 4, 2009 at the Menihek High School and Arts and Culture Centre in Labrador City.
Similar theatre workshops are planned for other regions of the province.
